The webinar\u00a0\u201cInterventions from the South: Theoretical Perspectives and
\nPragmatic Issues of Migration, Logistics and Unequal Citizens in the Context of
\nthe Covid-19 Pandemic\u201d\u00a0is an integral part of multiple events organized by the\u00a0CHCI-
\nGLOBAL HUMANITIES INSTITUTE 2020-2021:\u00a0Migration, Logistics and Unequal
\nCitizens in Contemporary Global Context.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Migration has become a critical field of study for social scientists due to the harsh
\nrealities and rising inequality migrants are subject to. Asia, though hosting a substantial
\nportion of the world\u2019s migrants, provides the poorest protection and fewest policies for
\nadvancing migrants\u2019 rights and livelihoods. This webinar aims to feature some of the
\nmost crucial queries and questions revolving around \u2018migration\u2019. It provides an
\ninterdisciplinary platform where distinguished scholars of the\u00a0CHCI-GLOBAL<\/p>\n

HUMANITIES INSTITUTE 2020-2021\u00a0and Asia-based migrant rights activists and
\nNGOs present their research and professional observations of the complexities of
\nmigrant issues in the context of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
\nThe webinar encompasses four themes: (1)\u00a0Precarious Conditions and the
\nLegality\/Illegality Divide of Migrant Workers;<\/strong>\u00a0(2)\u00a0Multidirectional Unequal Care and
\nUnequal Rights;<\/strong>\u00a0(3)\u00a0Lawless Ocean: Fishermen at Sea<\/strong>; and (4)\u00a0Transnational Care
\nduring the Pandemic<\/strong>. It consists of six panels.<\/p>\n

\uf0b7 Panel One examines the precarious conditions and the legality\/illegality divide
\namong migrant workers within both sending and receiving countries as well as
\nin transnational spaces such as international airports.<\/p>\n
