LABOUR DYNAMICS IN VIETNAM’S PRIVATE ECONOMIC SECTOR AMIDST DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION: A SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE ON SKILLS AND SOCIAL SECURITY

This paper examines the transformation of labour within Vietnam’s private economic sector under the impact of digital transformation, which is redefining traditional employment models. Through a sociological theoretical framework, the study analyses the ‘dual challenge’ facing workers: the urgent need for digital skills and the precariousness of employment within the platform economy. The results indicate that while digitalisation drives productivity, it also increases risks regarding data security, privacy, and the erosion of traditional social security nets. The research emphasises the gap between current labour capacity and the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, while affirming the role of digital governance in protecting labour rights. The paper concludes that a coordinated approach between public administration and private governance, based on digital ethics and lifelong learning policies, is key to building an inclusive digital environment, ensuring sustainable social development, and preventing vulnerable workers from being marginalised.
