In digital platform labour, drivers and delivery workers are often identified as partners, but the work process is strongly shaped by data, performance indicators, and platform decisions. This study examines the relationship between algorithmic management, platform dependence, procedural quality, and worker voice in the transportation and delivery sector in Ho Chi Minh City. The study used quantitative survey data from 292 workers and analysed them using PLS-SEM. The results show that algorithmic management increases drivers’ dependence on the platform. At the same time, procedural quality and the ability to appeal play an important role in worker voice and workers’ ability to interact with the platform company. The findings suggest that the core issue in platform labour relations lies not only in the level of algorithmic control, but also in the quality of the procedural environment created by the platform. Accordingly, the article highlights the need to improve decision transparency, appeal mechanisms and minimum protections for dependent workers in the context of digital transformation in Vietnam.
